Polyethylene Glycol 0.4% and Propylene Glycol 0.3%

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a clear liquid derived from ethylene oxide, a chemical compound. PEG is often used as a thickening agent in food products and cosmetics.

Propylene glycol (PG) is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, flammable liquid derived from propylene oxide.

PG is commonly used in antifreeze solutions and coolants. Both PEG and PG are considered safe for use in humans.

Eye Lubricants

Eye lubricants are used to keep eyes moist and prevent dryness. Dry eyes can cause irritation and discomfort, especially if they become irritated.

There are many different types of eye lubricants available, including saline solutions, artificial tears, and ointments.

Saline solutions help to maintain moisture in the eyes and reduce the risk of infection. Artificial tears are designed to provide temporary relief from dry eyes. Ointments are often used to treat chronic conditions.

Dry Eyes Symptoms

Dry eye syndrome (DES) is a condition where the tears don’t flow properly due to tear film instability.

There are many causes of DES including aging, allergies, autoimmune disease, medications, and environmental factors. Dry eye syndrome affects millions of people worldwide.

Symptoms of Dry Eye Syndrome

There are several different types of dry eye syndrome, however, they all have similar symptoms. These symptoms include:

  • Burning sensation
  • Itching
  • Gritty feeling
  • Stinging
  • Blurred vision
  • Tearing
  • Redness
  • Watery eyes

What Causes Dry Eyes?

Dry eye syndrome (DES) is a condition where tears do not flow properly out of the tear ducts.

In some cases, the cause of DES may be due to environmental factors, such as air pollution, allergies, or even stress. Other times, the cause of DES is unknown.

Symptoms of DES include irritation, burning, itching, redness, and sensitivity to light. If left untreated, DES can lead to serious complications including blurred vision, corneal ulcers, infections, and scarring.
