Caflam Tablet is pharmacologically classified as analgesic medicine that is used to ease inflammation caused in various conditions. Caflam Tablet is used to relieve pain that is associated with bone disorders such as osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, backache, soft tissue injuries, frozen shoulder.

 Caflam Tablet is most effective in reducing pain that is associated with inflammatory disorders such as fracture, sprain, a hairline fracture, gout, inflammation in the joints and bones. Dosage

Adults 

In Adults, Caflam Tablet should be given in fixed dosage such as 75mg – 150mg should be given on a regular basis. Divided in 2-3 doses. 

Children aged more than 12 years

Caflam Tablet should be given in fixed dosage such as 75mg – 150mg should be given regularly. Divided in 2-3 doses. 

Children aged 1-12 years

Caflam Tablet is not recommended for children under the age of 12 years. 

Uses

Caflam Tablets are used for various purposes, such as:

  • They are used to relieve pain associated with bone and joint disorders.
  • They are effective in relieving pain that is caused by acute gout.
  • These tablets are used to eliminate pain symptoms in dysmenorrhea.
  • They are used in rheumatoid arthritis.
  • They are used to treat pain associated with soft tissue injury.

Mechanism of action

Caflam Tablet is NSAID ( Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory drug) that contains  Diclofenac Potassium. Diclofenac potassium works by blocking the production of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are agents or substances produced in our body that cause inflammatory pain in our body. 

Diclofenac sodium act on Prostaglandin receptors by blocking their effect. Blockage of prostaglandins in our body stops creating inflammation, and so irritation created at the location of the activity is repressed.

Administration

Caflam Tablet is taken ORALLY only (via Mouth)

Do not chew, crush, macerate or break it.

Take the tablet with a glass of water.

It is advisable to take with or after the meal. 

Take it regularly and if it is prescribed by your doctor or your pharmacist. 

In pregnancy

Caflamtablets are not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly needed, and if your doctor specifically prescribes it.

Labour and Delivery: Caflam Tablets should not be given in labour and delivery.

Nursing mothers:Caflam tablets should not be given to mothers who are nursing their infants. 

Contra-indications

Caflam Tablet should be avoided in patients who are 

  1. Allergic to aspirin
  2. Have a history of active peptic ulcer
  3. Using Prostaglandin synthesis inhibitor drugs. 
  4. Hypersensitive to constituents of piroxicam
  5. Have Gastrointestinal Cancers 

Storage

CaflamTablets should be stored at room temperature, not exceeding 30c.

It should be kept in a dry and cool place.

It should be kept away from moisture and excessive heat. 

It should be kept out of reach of children.

Availability

This is an OTC drug which is available all over Pakistan. It can be purchased from any Pharmacy, Drug store or chemist store. It is widely available online.
