Ceclor is an antibiotic suspension taken orally for bacterial infection.

The medicine is a cephalosporin type of antibiotic treating many bacterial infections caused in different parts of your body. The antibiotic destroys the bacteria by stopping its growth.

Formula

The ceclor suspension formula is given below. The active ingredient of the medication, which is also the generic name, is 'Cefaclor'. Other inactive ingredients are:

  1. Erythrosine
  2. Dimeticone
  3. Methylcellulose
  4. Strawberry flavour
  5. Sodium lauryl sulfate
  6. Tapioca starch

Ceclor suspension uses are described below:

  • The antibiotic is used to treat infections in the upper (ear, nose, throat tonsils) and lower respiratory tract (lungs and chest) caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Haemophilus influenza.
  • Ceclor suspension is used to treat skin infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus.
  • It is also used to treat urinary tract bacterial infections caused by Klebsiella species, E. coli, and others.
  • It is used to treat acute and chronic bronchitis caused by H. Influenza and S. pneumoniae strains.

It is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections.

Dosage

Ceclor suspension dosage must be as per your doctor's recommendation. You can take medicine after every 8 to 12 hours or as directed by your doctor. As it is a suspension, you must shake it well before using. Complete the full antibiotic course.

  • Do not have any vaccination while using the medicine as it reduces its effectiveness.
  • Consult a doctor prior to giving the medication to adults as they are sensitive to the drug.
  • Cefaclor suspension for babies must be used on the doctor's advice. The antibiotic is safe to be given to children, but it is recommended to consult a doctor first.
  • Keep the medication away from the reach of children. Use with caution having Kidney Disease and Intestinal Disease.
