The preventive measures must be read before using any medication to avoid harmful effects. The essential Cymbalta capsules precautions are listed below.

• Do not use Cymbalta capsules if you have a known allergy to any of its ingredients.
• Do not use the capsules if you have liver or kidney disorder.
• Do not use the capsules if you consume monoamine oxidase inhibitor or have taken it within the last 2 weeks.
• Inform your doctor before using the capsules if you are taking fluvoxamine or other medicine to treat anxiety and depression.
• Inform your doctor if you have bipolar disorder, seizures, eye disorder, or bleeding disorder.
• Notify your doctor if your blood sodium levels are low.
• You might experience suicidal thoughts as the medication takes at least 2 weeks to produce its result. 
• It is recommended to consult a doctor immediately if you experience suicidal thoughts or harm yourself. The patient's family or friend must read the patient information leaflet.
• It is not suitable for children below 18 years of age as there are increased risks of having suicidal thoughts.
• It is recommended to use the capsules only on a doctor’s prescription if pregnant and discuss the potential risks and benefits.
• Do not use without a doctor's recommendation if you are breastfeeding.
• It is not advised to drive or use any machinery to make you feel dizzy.
• As the Cymbalta contains sucrose, take the capsules with extreme caution if you have diabetes or have sucrose intolerance.
• Keep the medication away from the reach of children.
• Place it in a safe, cool, and dry place.

Tell your doctor/pharmacist your medical history, especially of Bipolar/Manic-depressive disorder, personal or family history of Suicide attempts, Bleeding problems, personal or family history of Glaucoma, Hypertension, Kidney disease, Liver disease, Seizure disorder, Slow emptying of the stomach, Use/abuse of alcohol.
