Mouth and throat disorders are unpredictable. They are formed over days and may aggravate suddenly, causing pain and burning sensation. Mouth disorders could be systemic, caused by fungi or bacteria, excessive use of tobacco, course of antibiotics, or consumption of extremely spicy or irritating foods. These disorders should be treated with oral gels, such as Daktarin Gel, that effectively treat infections of the mouth and throat (e.g., thrush).

Uses

To treat mouth disorders instantly, Daktarin Gel is used. 

It is used to treat

Cold sores

Cold sores are caused by a virus that results in painful and burning sores around the lips and areas inside the mouth. The inner side of a check or upper palate. 

Canker sores

Canker sores are caused by bacteria that result in painful sores in the mouth.

Thrush

An infection that is caused by yeast, results in white patches inside your mouth. 

Leukoplakia 

Leukoplakia is white patches of cell growth on the cheeks, gums, or tongue.

Dry mouth 

Also known as Xerostomia, which is a lack of saliva in the mouth. 

Gum Inflammation 

Inflammation of the gums.

Daktarin Oral Gel dosage 

To treat sore mouth or throat, it is applied internally in the mouth, in the minimum amount as it is highly potent. 

For Adults 

It is advised to apply to the affected area every 4 – 6 hours. 

For children

For children from age 12 to 16 years. 

Should apply to the affected area topically 4- 6 times in a day. 

For infants

Daktarin Oral Gel is not recommended for babies less than 4months of age or those babies who have not developed swallowing reflex. 

Contraindication

Daktarin Oral Gel is not recommended to those patients who are 

  • Hypersensitive to miconazole or are allergic to any other imidazole derivatives.
  • Not advised for infants whose swallowing reflexes are not developed. 
  • Should not be used concomitantly with Ergot alkaloids
  • Should not be used with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors such as lovastatin.
  • Miconazole raises the blood levels of the following medicines, 
  • Benzodiazepines 
  • Calcium-channel blockers 

Storage 

Tablets should be stored at room temperature, not exceeding 30c. It should be kept in a dry and cool place.

It should be kept away from moisture and excessive heat.

Make sure to keep it out of reach of children.
