Noroxin tablets belong to the class of 'Fluoroquinolone' drugs. The tablets come under the generic name of norfloxacin. The Noroxin broad-spectrum antibiotic tablets treat several bacterial infections by putting a halt to their growth and DNA synthesis thereby stopping the infection.

Composition

The Noroxin tablets formula includes the following active and inactive ingredients.

  1. The active ingredient is norfloxacin.

Inactive ingredients include:

  1. Cellulose. 
  2. Hydroxypropyl cellulose.
  3. Magnesium stearate.
  4. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.
  5. Croscarmellose sodium. 
  6. Titanium dioxide.

The ingredients work by inhibiting the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase which is involved in bacterial DNA repair and production. The tablets kill several gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

The comprehensive Noroxin tablets uses are listed below. It is recommended to use the tablets only on a doctor's prescription. 

  • Noroxin tablets treat a variety of urinary tract infections like cystitis.
  • The tablets are also used to treat prostate gland infections and associated inflammation.
