Ofylin tablets are methylxanthine derivatives working as bronchodilators. The tablets work by relaxing the smooth muscles of bronchioles and making breathing easy. The tablets come under the generic name of ‘doxofylline’ which is also the active component of ofylin.

Components

The ofylin tablets formula contains the active ingredient 'Doxofylline'. Its working mechanism includes inhibition of phosphodiesterase enzyme activity. Doxofylline also works by interacting with beta 2 adrenoreceptors which ultimately relaxes the air passageway and blood vessels muscles. The medication is also associated with anti-inflammatory response.

The recommended dose for children above 6 years of age is 6mg per kg of body weight. The tablets are not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
