Piriton syrup comes under sedating antihistamine class of drugs used to treat various allergies. The generic name of the syrup is ‘Chlorphenamine Maleate’. This anti-allergic syrup works against histamine allergen responsible for causing allergies.

Composition

Piriton syrup ingredients are listed below.

  1. Chlorphenamine Maleate is the active component of the syrup.
  2. Sucrose. 
  3. Peppermint oil. 
  4. Ethanol. 
  5. Water. 
  6. Glycerol. 
  7. Tingle flavor. 
  8. Mixtures of methyl, ethyl, and propyl hydroxybenzoate are included as a preservative.

  • The recommended dosage for 2 to 12 years of age is also 2 spoons of 2.5ml. Do not exceed the recommended dosage as it can result in severe side effects. The minimum time period between taking 2nd dose must be 4 hours.
