How Does Dextransoprazole Treat Heartburn?

Dexlansoprazole works by reducing the amount of gastric acid produced in the stomach. When taken orally, dexlansoprazole binds to the surface of the stomach's cells and prevents them from releasing the necessary amounts of acid. 

As a result, the stomach doesn't produce enough acid to cause heartburn symptoms.
