This medicine is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. It is also used to prevent certain types of chest pain (angina).

Zamlo H (amlodopine & hydrochlorothiazide) tablets are used to treat high blood pressure. This medicine may be prescribed when your doctor thinks that your blood pressure is too high.

Your doctor will decide if this medicine is right for you based on your medical history, symptoms and lifestyle.

Zamlo H Tablet 5/12.5mg - Product Features:

Amlodipine (5mg) is an anti-hypertensive agent which lowers blood pressure by relaxing the muscles of the arteries. Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5mg) is a diuretic that increases urine output.

The combination of these two drugs has been shown to reduce blood pressure more effectively than either drug alone.

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension is defined as high blood pressure. High blood pressure occurs when the force of the blood pushing against the artery wall is greater than the strength of the vessel wall. As a result, the arteries become stiffer and narrower.

When the heart beats harder to pump blood throughout the body, the arteries get even tighter. This causes an increased workload on the heart and may lead to damage to the heart muscle.

How does Hypertension affect the Body?

High blood pressure damages the small blood vessels throughout the body. These damaged blood vessels restrict the flow of blood to organs and muscles.

In turn, these organs and muscles cannot function properly. Over time, they may fail completely.

How do I know if I have Hypertension?

If you have been diagnosed with hypertension, you should talk to your doctor about taking medication. You may need to take medicine for the rest of your life.

Your doctor may recommend lifestyle changes to help lower your blood pressure. He or she may suggest losing weight, quitting smoking, eating less salt, exercising regularly, and limiting alcohol consumption.

How do I treat Hypertension?

Your doctor may prescribe medicines to control your blood pressure. If you don't feel comfortable taking pills, he or she may suggest using herbal remedies instead.

Herbal remedies work by relaxing the smooth muscle cells lining the blood vessels. This helps reduce the amount of blood flowing through the narrowed blood vessels.

Can Hypertension Be Prevented?

Yes. There are many ways to prevent hypertension. One way is to eat a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fish, poultry, and low-fat dairy products.

Another way is to exercise daily. Try walking briskly for 30 minutes at least five times per week. A third way is to avoid drinking alcoholic beverages. Alcohol increases blood pressure.

Is there anything else I should know about Hypertension?

There are some things you can do to keep your blood pressure under control.

  1. Make sure you're getting enough sleep. Sleep deprivation makes it hard to regulate your blood pressure.
  2. Try not to smoke cigarettes. Smoking raises your blood pressure.
  3. Limit your intake of caffeine. Caffeine constricts blood vessels and raises your blood pressure.
  4. Drink plenty of water. Water keeps your kidneys working well and helps flush out excess sodium.
  5. Avoid salty foods. Salt raises your blood pressure.
  6. Avoid consuming processed meats. Processed meats increase your risk of developing high blood pressure.
  7. Avoid excessive use of salt substitutes. Too many salt substitutes can cause dehydration.
  8. Avoid overuse of diuretics. Diuretics remove fluid from the body. Fluid loss can raise your blood pressure.
  9. Avoid excessive use of decongestants. Decongestants relax the airways and narrow the blood vessels. This reduces the amount of blood flowing to the lungs and brain.
  10. Avoid excessive use of antihistamines. Antihistamines dry out the skin and mucous membranes. This can cause your blood vessels to narrow.
  11. Avoid excessive use of birth control pills. Birth control pills thin the blood and decrease its ability to carry oxygen. Thinning the blood can cause your blood pressure to rise.
  12. Avoid excessive use of tranquilizers. Tranquilizers depress the central nervous system and slow down the heartbeat. This can cause your heart to beat faster and your blood pressure to rise, especially if you already have high blood pressure.
