Rifaxa tablet is used to treat diarrhea caused by a bacteria known as E. coli. It is also called a traveler's bacteria. Rifaxa tablets are only used to treat bacterial infections. The generic name of this medicine is Rifaximin. Rifaxa tablets belong to the category of medicines known as antibiotics. Antibiotics stop the growth of bacteria and are helpful in treating bacterial infections only. It is also known as an anti-diarrheal medicine.

Uses of Rifaxa Tablet

Rifaxa tablet is used to treat the following conditions

It is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome such as diarrhea.
It is also used to treat hepatic encephalopathy.
This medication is helpful in treating diarrhoeal infections caused by bacteria. This medication is used in serious situations when the diarrheal infection does not get better with mild antibiotics.

This medication is used to treat Diarrhea caused by the common bacteria known as E. coli "traveler's diarrhea", irritable Bowel Syndrome & Hepatic Encephlopathy.

Dosage

This medication should be taken only on prescription.
Take the dosage as prescribed by the doctor. Do not increase the dosage on your own.
Each type of diarrheal infection has different dosage requirements, so it is better to take medicine according to the doctor's prescription.
Excessive use of antibiotics can cause kidney failure. In case the required prescription does not make your condition any better, go to the doctor again and inform them about it.
In case you do not see any improvement in your condition, visit the doctor again.
In case of a missed dosage, take it as soon as you remember it and take the next dosage with a gap of at least 4 hours.
Do not recommend the medication to other people on your own, especially to patients suffering from severe ailments.
Store the medicine at room temperature
You can take this medication without having a meal as well.
