It is used to treat Oral Allergies or Infections.

For quick relief of pain and soreness in the mouth or other buccal cavity ailments, Somogel is the right choice of drug. It is useful in the treatment of various mouth conditions and disorders. 

It is used to treat

  1. Gingivitis: Inflammation of the gums
  2. Glossitis: Tongue becomes inflamed and swollen
  3. Sore gums: Gums becoming sore and sensitive 
  4. Toothache: Pain in the tooth
  5. Mouth ulcer: Small lesions that develop in the mouth
  6. Sore throat: Dry or itchy feeling in the throat
  7. Canker Sores: painful sores in the mouth that is caused by bacteria or virus.
  8. Leukoplakia: Leukoplakia are white patches of cell growth on the cheeks, gums, or tongue.
  9. It is also used as a local anesthetic that is used to eliminates or diminish the pain. 

Somogel  dosage 

To treat mouth ulcers or sore throat, it is applied internally in the mouth. 

For Adults 

It is advised to apply to the affected area every 4-6 hours. 

For children

For children from age 12 to 18 years. 

Should apply to the affected area topically 4- 6 times in a day. 

For infants

Somogel is not recommended for babies less than 6months of age or those babies whose swallowing reflex is not fully developed. 

Storage 

Tablets should be stored at room temperature, not exceeding 30c. It should be kept in a dry and cool place.

It should be kept away from moisture.

It should be kept away fromdirect excessive heat or light.

Make sure to keep out of reach of children.

  6. Do not discontinue the treatment if your doctor has not advised to stop applying the gel. Take the full treatment. Do not miss any dose.

Side effects of Somogel are:

  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea.
  • Sore mouth.
  • Oral discomfort
  • Vomiting
  • Methemoglobinemia
  • Breathing problems
  • Pale, bluish, gray skin
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Headache
  • Burning sensation in the mouth
  • An allergic reaction may also occur. 

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients listed.
