Lasoride Tablet is used for the Treatment of hypertension, Treatment of edema, and Congestive heart failure. The generic category of this tablet is Potassium-Sparing Agents and Loop Diuretic. However, the ingredients which are used in this tablet are 5mg of Amiloride HCl and 40 mg of Furosemide.

Uses

Lasoride Tablet is used to treat the control and prevent from pulmonary edema (which can cause fluid in the lungs), used for the Treatment of cerebral edema (which can cause water accumulation in the brain).
Moreover, it is also used to treat peripheral edema (which causes swelling of lower limbs) and cardiac edema.
It is also used for (edema) the Treatment of fluid retention, pulmonary edema (which is on lungs) or in the legs (peripheral edema) and treat high blood pressure.
It is used to reduce Edema caused by conditions such as Heart failure, Liver disease, and Kidney disease.

How does it work

This medicine works by decreasing or not allowing the absorption of chloride and sodium in the distal tubules and proximal and in the loop of Henle.
It works by preventing the reabsorption of sodium at the distal convoluted tubule, cortical collecting tubule and collecting duct.

How to use

The tablet is used as directed by the doctor. The patient should follow the instruction on the leaflet of the tablet inside the packet.
The tablet should be taken without or with food. The tablet should be swallowed with water properly. It should not be crushed or chewed.
The tablet should be taken by mouth, usually once daily, as directed by the doctor. Take medicine before bedtime, like 4 hours before, so that patient doesn’t need to urinate again and again at night.

Dosage

Dosage for Adults

For hypertension (high blood pressure)

Adult dosage (age from 18 to 64 years)

The typical dose starts from 80 mg in a day or takes 40 mg twice every day.

The doctor may change the dose or add other blood pressure medicine.

Dosage for edema condition

Adult dosage (age from18 to 64 years)

The typical dose starts from 20 to 80 mg should be taken once in a day.

The dosage may increase or decrease depending on the condition of the patient.

Dosage for children

No such tablet is recommended for children.

The tablet is available in Pakistan, in every city and in medical stores. The price of the tablet is not too high; it is cheap and affordable. Nevertheless, the tablet is also available in online stores with reasonable prices

Before using the medicine, it is important to consult a doctor and share patients’ medical history or any current problem (pregnancy) or any disease.
The patient who are hypersensitive should be careful using while using this medicine as it contains some inactive ingredient which may cause a serious allergic reaction.
It is advised that the patient having diabetes, kidney impairments. And gout (pain in joints due to uric acid) should be very careful while using this tablet.
The patient should first consult a doctor if they are suffering from these kinds of conditions like the risk of asymptomatic hyperuricemia, dealing with hepatic coma, who are allergic to sulfonamides or furosemide.
Hypertensive patients should not use this medication as it may increase blood pressure, which can be very risky for their health.

It may reduce the Potassium level in your blood. Should be taken with caution in patients with hypokalemia. Tell your doctor/Pharmacist your medical history, especially of: Kidney problems, Liver problems, Inability to make urine, Gout, Lupus.

Side Effects
