Spiromide Tablet is a drug that is made up of two medicine which is used to reduce the level of excess fluids in the body as it maintains the potassium balance.

The generic name of this drug is spironolactone. Moreover, the combination of the generics are the Frusemide and spironolactone.

The medicine is used to treat edema (which the high level of fluid on the body) and treat hypertension cases.
The Tablet is taken to lessen the symptoms like swelling of arms, abdomen, legs, and shortness of breath. However, it is used to treat high blood pressure. Bringing down blood pressure can reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems.
It is utilized for resistant edema related with secondary hyperaldosteronism, hepatic cirrhosis, resistant hypertension, and chronic cardiac failure.

Dosage

Dosage for Adults

For Primary Hyperaldosteronism: The Tablet of 100- 400 mg a day in preparation for the surgery at first.
For Edematous Conditions: The Tablet of 100 mg in a day or divide it in portion and break of 12 hours for five days, the dosage can be based on the condition of the patient might increase to 200 mg.
For Essential Hypertension: The tablet of 25 to 100 mg in a day or divide it into two portions and take it in an equal time; the dosage may change according to the condition of the patient within two weeks.
For Congestive Heart Failure: 25 mg a day.
For Hypokalemia: 25 to 100 mg. depends upon the condition of the patient.

Dosage for Children:

The medicine is not recommended for the use of children.

Indication

Spiromide 40 mg tablet is utilized for the Edematous conditions. Particularly that where optional hyperaldosteronism is included edema, cirrhosis of the liver, and ascites of congestive heart failure.

The Tablet is indicated in the administration of mild to moderate nephrotic syndrome and essential hypertension.

It is used to treat Urinary Retension and Hypertension.

In pregnancy

Use with caution having kidney problems, liver problems, Mineral imbalance (such as high potassium, low sodium), Addison's disease.

Side Effects

Every medicine has its benefits but has side effects too. Some of the side effects are rare, but some are very serious. It is not necessary that side effects may occur every time, but it can occur.

The active ingredient in it might cause an allergic reaction to the patient who are hypersensitive will be affected more.

Some of the side effects which may occur are:

muscle spasm
headache
skin rash
electrolyte disbalance
weakness

Some of the serious side effects which may occur are:

Gastrointestinal: Nausea, inflammation in the stomach, gastric bleeding, diarrhea, ulceration, vomiting, and cramps
Blood: decrease or lowering of blood cells
Genitourinary: postmenopausal bleeding, kidney problems, irregular periods, painful erection, menstrual cycle problems, and Breast enlargement in males.
Metabolic: increase of blood potassium level.
Hypersensitivity: hives, itching of skin, fever, inflammation or irritation of veins, and shock.
Nervous system: incoordination, migraine, headache, Mental confusion, lethargy, sleepiness, and drowsiness.

If the patient's conditions get worse so immediately consult a doctor.
